Quite simply the worst EV in History. No regen, basic outdated and pathetic range, horrible in winter and battery depletes at an alarming rate. AVOID. Needs at least 10 hours to charge.

So what's the car worth when battery has degraded and needs replacement? No one has talked about the value of the car when it is nolonger drivable. My guess is it will be worthless. That is the ONLY reason I am still very hesitant. I really want the Gen 1 i3 Rex but not fully convinced it is wise a choice budget wise albeit they are cheap at the moment. Maybe there is a reason why. Someone convince me otherwise. Cheap to buy now but worth nothing later.

I bought my 2014 i3 Rex with 50k miles for $$14k USD in February 2023. I have replaced -tires, 12v battery, clock spring, spark plugs, fuel pump relay, air filter for cabin, and did 2 oil changes. Most of that work was done by friends. The only thing I don't like about war is small battetin winter. I live in Chicago.

Here in Greece the Ami has one basic problem that is in effect thwarted sales… it doesn’t have air conditioning, as you can appreciate an absolute necessity here.

We have the i3S. We wanted to get into the EV market in a sensible way and as a long term Audi A2 owners the i3 absolutely appealed to us. Both cars are revolutionary in their own way. The Audi with its aluminium construction and the i3 with its Kevlar tub..... we continue to drive both cars side by side but they are different beasts. The A2 delivers long range and frugal consumption. The i3S is even cheaper to run especially as we almost charge it for free from our house solar system. My wife wasn't convinced with the i3 but a few months later it's impossible to keep her out of it. It's light, it's responsive, it's quiet, it's cheeky but best of all, she hasn't visited a petrol station in the past year. For anyone reading this do not under estimate the i3, they are brilliant bits of kit but be careful, the range extender models are not ULEZ compliant, something that could have been mentioned here.

You don't need a charger at your house for an Nissan Ev I have an Nissan leaf for 5 years and I charge my Ev off 3 pin electric cable which is on every wall in any home or garage

As an ice driver for the last 35 years who does very little mileage only around 3k a year I'm beginning to come round to the idea that an ev might be better for me, trouble is I'm just to worried of switching and regretting it,

Best of luck with it. See if you can partner with a home charger company, might be an extra small bit of revenue for you there too.

As you're selling as a dealer now, you'll need to offer a 3 month guarantee - most dealers sort this out with a 'poor' 3 month warranty from RAC (not them, of course) or someone! Maybe you'd get around this, by offering a car finding service or something, where the customer can pay you first and you buy the car for them!? Or, maybe, you can get a little money from RAC (or whomever) for selling your customers an extended warranty!?😅 But, a good idea all the same. I thought about doing it some time ago with a mate, but then he got a job which took him away from the area so I had to knock it on its head! Good luck Gary!

Just when I read the other day that Jonathan Porterfield was stepping back from Eco Cars, along you come...! Whilst Facebook groups do all we can in helping potential new EV-ers buy their first EV, you're right that they would still have to deal with a non-plussed back-street forecourt - far better to be buying from someone with detailed EV knowledge and a genuine desire to help someone along the way. Good for you, dude... I hope it all goes well for you. 👍

It's a sector which is quietly taking off in a big way, behind the noise of the ill-informed critics. And when you consider that a £4000 Leaf will have paid for itself *outright* in two years in the fuel savings alone if you're coming from 40mpg, do the average of 12k miles a year and can charge at home, it's really no surprise. You could run it for two years, suffer 100% depreciation, throw it away and be no worse off.

Looks an interesting venture. Will you be offering warranties? Are these old Leafs battery owned?

Great work. We really need more dealers who are able to take people through EV learning points. Hopefully you’ll still be doing this next year or so. We may be looking to upgrade our 2014 24 kWh Tekna to a 40/62 kWh Tekna when finances allow. Not due to poor range, but because we have Indra V2H and current Leaf isn’t quite enough to do both car stuff and power the house. Chademo are great. Or we may get home battery and only use V2H as supplementary battery. Keep the 10+ years old Leaf so I can tell people how old EV’s are still awesome.

I have mixed feelings about about my two years with a 24kwh leaf Visia. Not really bearable for longer journeys though it could do it if i needed to. And it drove like a Nissan, which is to say that no one buys a tiida for its reputation harassing sports cars on thw twisties. But it was quiet and comfortable, dependable and so cheap to run. Id have another for rhe school run now if i could justify another car on fleet.

Good on ye. Plenty starting to filter into the sub £5K that will start chipping away at the daily runabout market. I’ve got a 40kWh and use it regularly for motorway munching. Regarding Chademo, as long as the unit has power, in my 4 years they’ve almost always worked. Trouble now and again with BP pulse but thankfully, I don’t happen upon them unless I’m desperate.

It's about 10 years old. Today it's worth less than the cost of scrapping it. Try giving it away.

Good that you are mentoring customers in the nuances of EV ownership as part of the handover process. A separate sales channel might do well, similar to Chops Garage, for example.

Good idea to be able to use your knowledge, not only when you're buying them, but when you're selling them to first timers. There's nothing worse than a car "dealer" who doesn't know his/her product. Good luck

What kind of warranty do you provide? I assume given you have a BCA account you have trade insurance and a business set up. If we buy a car from your business I assume we’re covered for 6 months by the CRA. Or do you register each one in your name so it’s effectively a private sale with no warranty? Cheers
